I was inspired to make this costume by the lack of accurate portrayals of fabric and form I often saw. This was a popular costume to make at the time I did it, and I had wanted for a long time to make it exactly accurate to the artwork. So, I bought a few hides of beautiful genuine black leather and got to work.

I spent about two weeks straight working on this, and a another exact replica of the coat for a friend. Both turned out better than expected! It was the first costume I have made that I liked enough to wear again, and has become a staple costume in my collection that I bring to most costume events and conventions.

It was worn for the first time to Connecticon 2008, where I competed in the Masquerade with a few friends. We won 1st place Advanced Craftmenship and a Judge's Award.
