| As soon as I saw this anime, I was drawn to the beautiful costumes. I just had to make a Lia costume. I decided on her red dress, since I had seen it done only once or twice and wanted to make a more historically accurate take on it!
I chose four different types of silk to give each part of the costume a different texture. I based my decision by looking at how the fabrics fell and reflected light in the artwork and anime.
I bought all my silk at the same time, and was lucky enough to get most of it for a great bargin! This costume was a great success for me and I am still very pleased with how it turned out! The hoop skirt underneath was also handmade by me with plastic-encased steel hooping and a silk-like polyester.
