| Chopin has always been my favorite composer, so when I discovered this game, it didn't take me long to decide to make his costume! I loved his character design, and knew instantly what I wanted to use for fabrics. I bought a beautiful sateen suiting in a dark blue, and ordered red and purple acid dyes. It took 10.5 hours of almost constant boiling and stirring to get the color I wanted, but it came out perfect!
I hand-drafted the patterns, and lined the entire coat with red silk charmeuse. Every button is functional and hand-painted in antique gold leafing. The 'skirt' was gradient dyed using silk paint mixed in hot water. The hearts on it were embroidered and then cut out! It is made out of silk dupioni, as is the collar and cuffs.
The top hat I made with extremely stiff fusible interfacing and buckram. I really love this costume and it's a joy, and comfortable, to wear! I'm hoping soon to make his baton sword as well, so I can complete the look!
